semana dos

voy a empezar este post con una semana de retraso, pero merece la pena contar cómo celebramos mi nuevo trabajo.
markus me preparó una noche sorpresa: cocktail en el top of the mark (el bar en el piso ¿25? de un hotel), cena en anchor & hope y fin de fiesta en el vesuvio (un clásico bastante similar al bukowski).

me cuida demasiado bien markus. la próxima night out me toca organizarla a mí (y ya estoy planeándola).

la primera semana en el trabajo ha ido genial, mucho mejor de lo que me esperaba. el equipo me ha ayudado mucho a integrarme y me han hecho sentir como en casa. si te has cambiado de empresa alguna vez sabrás que los primeros días son un periodo de adaptación un poco complicado: estás acostumbrado a los procesos y la terminología de una y de repente te encuentras con cosas que, aunque similares, son totalmente distintas. así que el 50% de tu energía se gasta en intentar no meter la pata ;)
no obstante, estoy encantada con el trabajo: me gusta mucho lo que hago y es divertido volver a salir de casa y revivir el mundo de la gran empresa.

esta ha sido mi compra inaugural. ¿qué me decís? es como si fuera 1987 otra vez.

lo mejor de todo es que, aunque no me hayan llegado a mí (los mandé a talavera), nos han traído suerte de verdad: ¡leah ha conseguido plaza en una guardería... bilingüe de chino e inglés!

y creo que esto es todo por hoy. os podría aburrir con las cuatro lavadoras que he puesto o el potaje que he hecho... pero quiero que penséis que soy una profesional glamourosa.

i am going to start this post with a quick recap of last weekend - how we celebrated my new job. markus prepared a surprise date: cocktail at top of the mark, dinner at anchor & hope and beers at vesuvio. a lovely evening indeed.

next night out is on me, so i need to start gathering ideas.

the first week at work went great: the team has made me feel at home. if you ever have changed from a company to another you'll know that the first days imply an adaptation period that sometimes is a bit complicated: you are used to certain processes and terminology and all of a sudden everything is similar but not quite the same... basically, 50% of your energy goes to trying not to make mistakes.

buuuuut, i really love what i am doing: it is fun to work outside from home again, especially in a big company.

if you scroll up you can see my latest purchase at ebay. in case you are wondering what they are, they come straight from the 80s, are called "lucky chinese" and we used to collect them when i was a kid (check them out here). i stumbled upon them and couldn't let them go: i sent a bunch to my family in spain and i am seriously considering to ask the seller to send me some here...

apparently they brought luck to us because leah got a spot at a daycare! i am so so so happy that the application went through!

and i think this is all for today. i could tell you about the four loads of laundry or the kidney beans stew i have made for the week but i want to keep the glamorous halo.
